This is an integrated power management controller primarily used in generator sets and power distribution systems on ships, offshore platforms, and critical industrial facilities. Its core function is as a highly integrated, compact, and powerful generator management relay and automatic power management system controller.

Main Features & Characteristics

The IPM-1 is feature-rich, with its core functionalities spanning several key areas:

1. Generator Protection
Provides a comprehensive set of protection functions to ensure the generator shuts down safely under abnormal conditions, preventing equipment damage. This includes:

• Overcurrent Protection (with Definite and Inverse Time Characteristics)

• Overload Protection

• Reverse Power Protection

• Under-voltage / Over-voltage Protection

• Under-frequency / Over-frequency Protection

• Stator Earth Fault Protection (via residual voltage measurement)

• Emergency Stop Function

2. Engine Control & Protection
Through integrated interfaces, the IPM-1 can monitor and manage diesel or gas engines:

• Start/Stop control sequences

• Monitoring of engine parameters: coolant temperature, lube oil pressure, fuel pressure, etc.

• Engine emergency shutdown

• Configurable pre-heating and number of start attempts

3. Automatic Synchronization & Parallel Operation
This is a key function of its role as a “Power Management System” core:

• Automatic Synchronization: Automatically adjusts the voltage and frequency of an incoming generator to match the busbar or another running generator, closing the circuit breaker at the precise moment of zero phase angle difference.

• Load Sharing: When multiple generators operate in parallel, it ensures proportional sharing of active power (kW) and reactive power (kvar) between them via CAN bus or pulse signals, preventing one set from being overloaded while another is lightly loaded.

• Frequency Control: Acts as the frequency reference for the entire power plant.

• Breaker Control: Controls the opening and closing of the generator circuit breaker.

4. Automatic Power Management System
In systems with multiple power sources (e.g., main generator, standby generator, shore power), the IPM-1 can automatically control power transfer based on preset priorities and logic.

• Main Failure Logic: Automatically starts and connects a standby generator set if the main power source fails.

• High Power Demand Logic: Automatically starts and connects a second generator when the load increases beyond a set level.

• Automatic Unloading & Shutdown: Automatically unloads and shuts down redundant generators when the load decreases, improving fuel efficiency.

5. Measurement & Monitoring
The IPM-1 provides high-precision three-phase electrical measurements and displays them via its HMI (Human Machine Interface) or communication interfaces:

• Voltage (U), Current (I), Frequency (F)

• Active Power (P), Reactive Power (Q), Apparent Power (S), Power Factor (PF)

• Energy (kWh, kvarh)

• Engine parameters (temperature, pressure, etc.)

6. Communication & Interfaces

• Display: Built-in backlit graphic display for status indication, parameter setting, and alarm viewing.

• Communication Ports: Multiple standard RS485 interfaces supporting Modbus RTU protocol for easy integration into supervisory systems (e.g., SCADA).

• CAN Bus: Used for high-speed communication between multiple IPM-1 units or other DEIF devices (e.g., governors, AVRs) for precise load sharing and power plant management.

• I/O Ports: Extensive digital inputs and relay outputs for connecting external sensors, switches, and control circuits.
