DEIF PSM-1

This is a compact, cost-effective, and efficient single-channel generator protection relay designed for basic but critical protection and control tasks. It is primarily used in small and medium-sized generator sets, acting as a “smart guardian” for the generator, ensuring timely and reliable tripping in the event of a fault or unsafe operating conditions, thereby protecting the generator itself and connected equipment.

1. Basic Generator Protection
   The PSM-1 integrates several of the most commonly used protection functions for generators:

   • Overcurrent Protection (50/51): Prevents generator damage caused by sustained excessive current.

   • Short Circuit Protection (50): Provides instant tripping for sudden, severe short-circuit faults.

   • Overvoltage/Undervoltage Protection (59/27): Monitors voltage to prevent damage to the generator and loads from abnormal voltage conditions.

   • Overfrequency/Underfrequency Protection (81O/U): Monitors frequency to ensure the generator operates at a stable speed.

   • Reverse Power Protection (32): For generators paralleled with the grid, prevents power feedback to protect the prime mover (e.g., a diesel engine).
