Key Features & Detailed Description

1. Multi-Protocol & Multi-Channel Support:

   • EtherNet/IP Side: Integrates seamlessly as an adapter module into the backplane of the Rockwell Automation ControlLogix platform, or connects via Ethernet to other EtherNet/IP-supported controllers like CompactLogix.

   • Modbus Side: Provides 4 independent serial ports. Each port can be individually configured as:

     • Modbus RTU Master or Slave

     • Modbus ASCII Master or Slave

     • This means a single module can communicate with up to four separate Modbus networks simultaneously, greatly enhancing integration flexibility and port density.

2. Seamless PLC Integration:

   • When installed in a ControlLogix chassis, it communicates with the controller via the backplane, without using the controller’s Ethernet port.

   • It is supported by an Add-On Profile (AOP) in Rockwell’s Studio 5000 programming software. The AOP significantly simplifies configuration, diagnostics, and maintenance, allowing users to set up the module through a graphical interface without manually writing complex communication instructions.

3. Data Mapping:

   • The core function of the module is data mapping. It maps data from Modbus devices (such as holding registers, input registers, coils) into tags within the ControlLogix controller.

   • The controller can read and write these tags via the backplane as if they were local I/O data, enabling transparent communication with Modbus devices.
