• Role: Main Processor / Controller

• Core Function: Executes user-programmed control logic (e.g., Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagrams), manages the input/output data for the entire Tricon system, and ensures the system operates safely and reliably even in the event of a single or multiple faults.

• Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) Architecture:

  • The MP3101 module integrates three independent, synchronously operating processor channels. Each channel executes the same user program simultaneously.

  • A dedicated hardware circuit (the Fault-Tolerant Bus) synchronizes the instruction cycles and data across the three channels.

  • The system uses a “two-out-of-three” voting mechanism for inputs and outputs. Even if one entire processor channel fails, the system continues correct operation based on the results of the two healthy channels without interruption.

  • The module features multiple integrated communication ports for connecting to an engineering workstation (running Triconex TriStation 1131 software), operator stations (HMI), and other external systems (e.g., a DCS).
