    • Data Storage Connection: Serves as a bridge between the MV controller and storage devices, connecting various storage devices such as CD-ROMs, hard disk drives (HDDs), and floppy disk drives (FDDs) to enable data storage functionality in industrial control systems.
    • Data Reading and Interaction: Supports reading data from connected storage devices (e.g., program files and system configuration files on CD-ROMs) and transmitting it to the MV controller. It also allows writing data from the MV controller to the storage devices, realizing bidirectional data exchange.
    • Device Management and Control: Features the capability to manage and control connected storage devices. It can detect the status of storage devices (e.g., whether they are properly connected, remaining storage space, etc.) and control the read/write operations of the storage devices, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of data storage and reading.

 

  • Model Versions: The XVME-979 is available in multiple versions. For example, the XVME-979/2 includes a 5.25-inch 24X CD-ROM drive and a 2.5-inch hard disk drive; the XVME-979/4 includes a 5.25-inch 24X CD-R/W drive and a 2.5-inch hard disk drive; the XVME-979/1 is a CD-ROM-only version; the XVME-979/3 does not include a hard disk drive but comes with a 3-position P2 interconnection cable that can be connected to the XVME-977 X.
  • Interface and Transfer Rate: Adopts an ATAPI/IDE interface. The standard data transfer rate is 16.6 MB/s, and some versions can reach up to 33.3 MB/s.
  • Physical Characteristics: With dimensions of approximately 233mm x 160mm, it occupies only one double-height VMEbus slot and can be installed in any standard 6U VMEbus card cage.
  • Compatibility: Compatible with Xycom’s XVME-65X and 66X series VMEbus PC/AT processors.
