TMR Design Principles

• Triple Channels: Three physically isolated processor channels (A, B, C) execute identical logic synchronously.

  • Input Voting: Field signals (e.g., sensors) are read by all three channels. A “2oo3” (two-out-of-three) voting logic validates inputs, masking single-channel faults (open-circuit, short-circuit, or sensor failures).
  • Output Voting: Output commands require consensus from at least two channels to actuate final elements (e.g., solenoid valves). Ensures correct action even if one channel fails.
• Fault Isolation: Continuous self-diagnostics monitor each channel’s health. Faulty modules are automatically isolated, allowing the system to degrade gracefully to “2oo2D” (D = diagnostic) mode without downtime.
